October – Half Term and Halloween
Have I mentioned how much I love October? And this year was the best one yet.
Max was having difficulty settling into school so I took him out to spend some quality time together at Green Dragon Eco-Farm and had a brilliant day. The following week he was awarded “star of the week” at school for being kind and thoughtful.
Ok, Oliver’s 9th birthday was in September but I only got round to making his cake at the beginning of October (someone kindly bought him a cake on his actual birthday). This piñata cake was the cake of his dreams. It was Oliver’s plan to end the month with a Halloween style bake-off.
While the kids were at school, I went back to Stowe on my own to take photos of all the monuments. It took 4 hours and 15,000 steps!
During October we went for family walks at 4 different country parks: Irchester Country Park in Northamptonshire Beacon Hill Country Park in Leicestershire, Marston Vale Millennium Country Park in Bedfordshire, and Coombe Country Park in Warwickshire.
Isabel went on a 4 day German trip with school and came back in time for half term, when my Mum came to stay. I went to South Yorkshire to pick her up, and we visited Hardwick Estate on the way there, and Bolsover Castle (both in Derbyshire) on the way home.
We have had a brilliant month! Now we are heading into a much colder, much quieter November.
